Governor Sarah Palin’s final campaign push brought her to North Carolina on Saturday, drawing more than 10,000 supporters that were allowed in the venue -- several thousand were not able to get in.
“Tar Heels, do you share our commitment and can we count on your vote November 4th?” Palin asked the crowd inside the Exposition Center on the State Fairgrounds.
Supporters said they waited hours in line before the event.
“She just touches all the issues that are close to my heart and I believe in,” said Cheryl Garner of Wake Forest.
Much of Palin’s speech focused on the economy and the tax plan of Sen. Barack Obama.
"It seems to me so phony that it's starting to unravel already. And it seems like every few days now we're getting a new definition of middle class,” she said.
Palin also talked about supporting our nation’s veterans and achieving victory in Iraq and Afghanistan.
North Carolina has attracted candidates from both tickets in the last few weeks and months, and Obama has a slight lead in most polls in what is typically a state that votes Republican in presidential contests.
"Traditionally, it's not a state to have to worry about. This year we're a swing state so I'm glad they're paying us a little more attention,” supporter Tammy Johnson said.
