U.S. Senator-elect Kay Hagan has filed motions to drop her lawsuit against Elizabeth Dole.
According to court documents, Hagan and Dole must pay for their own attorney fees.
Hagan filed a lawsuit in Wake County Superior Court on Oct. 30 against Dole and the Elizabeth Dole Committee, Inc. after Dole declined to remove a television ad that calls Hagan "godless."
The ad questioned why Hagan went to a fundraiser at the home of a man who serves as an adviser to the Godless Americans Political Action Committee.
The ad ended by showing a picture of Hagan while another woman declared in the background, "There is no God!"
Hagan defeated first-term Republican incumbent Dole in the 2008 Senate election.
