Lowe: Team Must Monitor Degand’s Minutes In Opener

Credit: AP Online
RALEIGH, N.C. -

North Carolina State coach Sidney Lowe said the team will have to monitor point guard Farnold Degand's minutes in Saturday's season opener.

Degand is playing his way back from a knee injury that ended his season in December. Lowe said Degand will have to let the coaching staff know how he feels in the opener at New Orleans, primarily when it comes to his conditioning.

Degand played well in the Wolfpack's final exhibition, scoring 15 points on 7-for-8 shooting against Catawba. Lowe said he is confident in the team's depth at point guard with Degand, sophomore Javi Gonzalez and freshman Julius Mays. The position was a struggle during the Wolfpack's losing season last year.
