RALEIGH, N.C. -

Residents of downtown Raleigh's Historic Oakwood neighborhood have spent the last several months restoring and decorating their homes in preparation to kick off the 37th annual Historic Oakwood Candlelight Tour, Dec. 13-14.

Not only will the Historic Oakwood residents be opening their doors for visitors to walk through, they are also teaming up to help organize musicians, bring in antique automobiles, and coordinate the neighborhood children who will serve cider and cookies in the park to warm the neighborhood guests.

Initially organized in 1972 as a way to preserve the neighborhood from destruction, the Candlelight Tour continues its tradition and historic Oakwood homeowners are excited to share all the work they have put into restoring their neighborhood, along with a little bit of downtown Raleigh history with the public.
