After exhausting all leads, Cary Police are asking for your help in identifying two suspects who allegedly stole and used victims' credit cards at area businesses on August 31, 2008; the suspects are also believed to have stolen three vehicles that have since been recovered.

Shown in surveillance video at Wal-Mart on August 31, the suspects used credit cards stolen earlier on the same day from a vehicle in the 100 block of Ellsworth Drive and in the 100 block of Sterlingdaire Drive.

The suspects also used the cards at McDonald's in Garner, an Exxon Mobile station in Benson and at a gas station in Erwin.

Police also believe the suspects may be linked to several car thefts in the same area in which credit cards were stolen.

On August 28, a 2003 Nissan Murrano was reported stolen from the 1200 block of Deerfield Drive and was recovered on Winners Circle.

On August 31, a 2007 Mercury was stolen from the 100 block of Sterlingdaire Drive and was later recovered on Mockingbird Lane.

Also on August 31, a 2003 Honda Accord was reported stolen from the 100 block of Winners Circle and was later recovered at 600 Walnut Street.

"We believe that the credit card theft suspects may also be involved in the car thefts because all of the crimes occurred in the same area and most occurred on the same day," said Captain Mike Williams. "Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward and help us prevent another person from becoming a theft victim. We also advise citizens to lock their vehicles since one of the stolen vehicles was unlocked."

Police also encourage citizens to follow these tips:
• Sign your cards as soon as they arrive.
• Keep a record of your account numbers, their expiration dates, and the phone number and address of each company in a secure place.
• If you lose your credit or charge cards or if you realize they've been stolen, immediately call the issuer(s).
• Carry your cards separately from your wallet in a zippered compartment, a business card holder, or another small pouch.
• Report any questionable charges promptly and in writing to the card issuer.
• Do not leave cards or receipts lying around.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $2,500 for the arrest or indictment of those responsible for committing certain types of crimes.
