RALEIGH, N.C. -

North Carolina State University will hold its first forensic science symposium - including demonstrations and discussions of cutting edge crime scene investigation technology and techniques - on Friday, Dec. 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the College of Textiles.

The event will be held in the College of Textiles' Convocation Center on NC State's Centennial Campus. National and state law enforcement, justice-serving companies and forensic science researchers will learn more about state-of-the-art capabilities for crime scene investigation and review recent forensic activities held at NC State.

NC State forensic experts Dr. Ann H. Ross, associate professor of anthropology; Dr. David Hinks, associate professor of textile engineering, chemistry and science; Dr. Wes Watson, associate professor of entomology; and Dr. Billy Oliver, adjunct assistant professor of anthropology, will present plans for a potential new research center for forensic science, as well as encourage discussion on forensic needs in North Carolina.

Registration is required for the event and is available online here. NC State officials said the classes are now full, but law enforcement personnel wishing to attend can e-mail David Hinks at david_hinks@ncsu.edu.
