RALEIGH, N.C. -
North Carolina drivers could soon see an increase in their car insurance.
Last month a group representing insurance companies asked for a 13 percent hike. But instead the State Insurance Commissioner asked them to cut rates by 16 percent.
The rate bureau is now appealing the ruling and revised its request to a 10 percent hike. While the appeal is being worked out insurers can charge higher rates.

I agree with J.M. Bad drivers should be looked at more closely and higher rates applied to them.
I have never filed a claim in my 35+ years of driving and have a unblemished driving record. Why should the more cautious, attentive drivers be penalized with higher rates because some people are driving reckless??

Any rate hikes should go to people with bad driving records and prior claims. People, like myself, who have a clean record (for over 45 years!) should not be penalized for bad drivers.
