CARY, N.C. -

At least one person was killed Monday morning following an accident that involved a school bus and an SUV, Cary police confirm.

Officials say 25-year-old Lincoln Woods from Cary was killed during the accident after the bus struck his SUV.

Morrisville Carpenter Road remains closed due to the accident at the intersection of Morrisville Carpenter Road and Good Hope Church Road. Officials said the road is expected to be closed for another 3-4 hours as crews work to clear the scene.

According to Cary Police, a witness told them that a gray Taurus ran a stop sign at Good Hope Church Road.  The witness also told police that the bus tried to swerve and avoid hitting the car but then hit the Jeep SUV.

No students were aboard the bus and the driver of the SUV was the only occupant of the vehicle.

This is very sad. I was good friends with Lincoln in High School. I want to send out my condolances to his family, and his wife. I'll miss you bro.
