GARNER, N.C. -
The Garner Police Department will offer a self defense class for women on Saturday, Feb. 7.
The class begins at 10 a.m. and will be held at the West District Police Station located at 1809 Garner Station Boulevard.
North Carolina SBI reports that on average, one completed rape occurs in North Carolina every four hours, and the FBI reports that on average one completed rape occurs in the United States every 5.8 minutes, according to a press release.
Those who participate in the class will learn methods on how to be mentally and physically prepared to resist an attack.
Those wanting to take part in the class can register by calling call Officer Troy Young at 772-8810.
