Gov.-elect Beverly Perdue has chosen a North Carolina state lawmaker to run her state personnel office.
Perdue's office announced Thursday the choice of state Rep. Linda Coleman of Wake County as director of the Office of State Personnel.
Coleman has served in the Legislature since 2005. She's a former human resources manager within the agriculture and administration departments.
Coleman's new job means Democrats in her legislative district will have to nominate a replacement to fill out Coleman's new two-year term. Once she's governor, Perdue will be required by state law to appoint the nominee.
