A local locksmith has been fighting to protect its listing on Google but an un-licensed company has been replacing the business number for Marshall's Locksmith with its contact information.
Marshall's Locksmith now has its Google business listing correct, but company officials are concerned that they are still vulnerable even though the listing is now password protected as Google advised.
Atkinson now has her listing password protected -- but she says it's been password protected for weeks --- five separate times she's received pin numbers from Google in the mail -- and each time she fixes the listing, it goes back to having the wrong information.
The State Locksmith Licensing Board says they are seeing many locksmith scams across the state, and in most cases customers are being over-charged.
They said that customers need to take steps to protect themselves.
"They need to ask for their license, for anybody that's coming in their home, or business they need to ask them for a locksmith license or whatevers required by the state of the profession that they are letting come to their house, so I'm very concerned with the public's safety," said Debbie Atkinson, Marshall's Locksmith Manager.
