APEX, N.C. -

Plans for the controversial Regional Wastewater Management Facility in New Hill are underway.

The Western Wake Partners consisting of the Town of Cary, Morrisville, Apex and Holly Springs, held an open house to update residents on the projects.

Representatives were on sight to explain each aspect of the plan including the recently release Environmental Impact Statement.

The partners including Director of Cary Public Works Steve Brown said this open house will help answer questions before a public hearing on April 14.

"Every station is a walk through major aspects of the project describing things like permitting and how we reached our alternative," Brown said.

Resident Sheila Morrison encourages all residents to attend.

"The more information you have the better you will be able to discern the benefits and negatives on the community," Morrison said.

There will be another open house before the public hearing on the 14.

Those against the facility being built in the historic part of New Hill said it will cause traffic, odor and also ruin the feel of the small town.
