The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close a section of N.C. 540 in Wake County between Davis Drive (State Road 1613) and N.C. 55 nightly Monday, May 4, through Friday, May 8, from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Davis Drive will also be closed between Kitt Creek Road (State Road 1639) and George Watts Hill Drive during the same time frame.
One lane of eastbound N.C. 540 and one lane of the Davis Drive exit ramp will also be closed beginning today. This closure will remain in place until next Friday.
The road is being used for filming of the movie, "Main Street," which is the latest motion picture to be filmed in North Carolina. Over the past 10 years, North Carolina has benefited from an estimated $1 billion in spending from the film industry.
Motorists traveling on N.C. 540 should use the following signed detour routes:
- WESTBOUND: Exit at Davis Drive (Exit 67) and use Kitt Creek Road from Davis Drive to N.C. 55.
- EASTBOUND: N.C. 55 to Morrisville-Carpenter Road back to Davis Drive to McCrimmon Parkway to N.C. 54.
In addition to these closures, two lanes of eastbound N.C. 540 will be closed Saturday, May 2, beginning at 9 a.m., for about four hours for final film preparations. This closure will be repeated on Friday, May 8.
