RALEIGH, N.C. -

Wake County Public School officials say a student resource officer used pepper spray on several Dillard Drive Middle School students in order to break up a fight.

Greg Thomas said the incident occurred Wednesday morning as students were being dismissed from breakfast.

Four students began to fight and after the SRO directed the students numerous times to stop, the officer pulled out they spray and used it on the students.

Thomas adds that some additional students may have caught wind of the vapors in the air. EMS did respond to the school to assist students that needed treatment.

No other information about those involved was released.
