RALEIGH, N.C. -

USA Hockey today announced the roster for its Men’s Olympic Orientation Camp, which will be held in Woodridge, IL, from Aug. 17-19. Hurricanes defenseman Tim Gleason was among those selected to participate in the camp, which is a prelude to the Winter Olympic Games, to be held in Vancouver, B.C., in February and March, 2010.

Gleason, 26, completed his fifth NHL season in 2008-09, earning 12 assists in 70 games for the Hurricanes. The Clawson, MI, native led all Carolina defensemen and ranked 16th among NHL blueliners in hits (171). He was second among Hurricanes skaters in blocked shots (133) and third in penalty minutes (68). Gleason (6’0’’, 217 lbs.) participated in his first NHL playoffs in 2009, skating in all 18 postseason contests, and ranking ninth in the league in hits (59) and blocked shots (34). He netted his first career Stanley Cup playoff goal when he beat Martin Brodeur with the overtime game-winner in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals at New Jersey.

Originally selected by the Ottawa Senators in the first round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Gleason has totaled 65 points (7 goals, 58 assists) and 307 penalty minutes in 332 career NHL regular-season contests with Los Angeles and Carolina.
