A missing wallaby that escaped from a Rolesville veterinarian's hospital on Wednesday has been safely captured.
Searchers found the marsupial named Sydney near Monument Park in Rolesville shortly before 11 p.m., Saturday evening.
The young wallaby got loose after it jumped a fence at the Rolesville Veterinary Hospital Wednesday afternoon.
Sydney was at the hospital receiving treatment for an abscessed tooth when he escaped.
Residents and volunteers spent nearly two days calling in sightings of the missing wallaby.
At one point Friday night, searchers said they were within five feet of Sydney but his quick feet allowed to him to get away.
The wallaby is owned by Noah's Landing, a petting zoo located in Coats, North Carolina.
Searchers put him in a cage and transported him back to the clinic where we are told he has been slurping up water while doctors give him fluids and give him a complete check.
His owners tell NBC-17, he'll need to stay at the veterinary hospital for few days. (Indoors this time!)

Well, I'm glad to hear it, and not just because the animal represented someone's livelihood, a cared-for beast, and a potential loss for the vet's office. As residents of a small southern town, we should be acutely aware that how we respond to these smallest of unusual incidents reflects far more broadly and deeply upon our character and reputation than a hundred "Road to Rolesville" marketing promotions. To the world and to each other, we are what we do.

1 they were all volunteers 2 if the public knows to look for a missing person in a certain stretch of woods search parties are organized. 3 are you really suggesting that its necessary to let an innocent animal die just because when we have no idea where to look for a person we can't organize a search party? YOU don't have to volunteer to help, don't try to take away from their happy ending. Just because you don't love their animal doesn't mean they shouldn't have looked for him.

Yes,this was all necessary, the wallaby is not able to care for it's self it depends on caring people like them to care for it FREE of charge to the public. Also may I remind you that all of these people gave up there time freely without any questions because that's what they do is save all kinds of animals and they all are volunteers.
