Chatham County officials say another body has been found in Jordan Lake, making it the third one within the week.
The body of James J. Adams, 60, of Concord, New Hampshire was found in the water near Crosswinds Boating access just north of US 64 at Wilsonville. Two fishermen saw the body floating in the lake around 9 a.m. Wednesday and contacted authorities. A preliminary vacation reveals that Adams and his wife were in the area on vacation. She left to return to New Hampshire Tuesday and he stayed to camp and fish on Jordan Lake. The body has been transported to UNC Hospital for autopsy. There's no indication of foul play at this time. The case is still under investigation.
On Tuesday, fire and rescue crews found the body of Brandon McCray of Durham around 4:20 p.m. near the intersection of Beaver Creek Road and Lower Pea Ridge Road.
A concerned fisherman at the lake called emergency crews around 12:45 p.m. when he found some personal items on the shore.
The body is at UNC Hospital for autopsy.
On Sunday, N.C. State senior, Stephen Patrick Russell, 23, drowned while swimming in Jordan Lake.
Officials say Russell tried to swim across a cove, but didn't make it. Divers found his body around 10 a.m. Sunday at Farrington Point Boat Ramp.
