A once abandoned building in Cary has a new life thanks to a local church.
Connections Church finished renovating the old South Hills Twin Cinema in March and, like many churches, on Sunday mornings the building at 1280 Buck Jones road is full.
But when the church isn't having concerts or movie nights, most other times the chairs and the building sit empty.
"We don't need all this space for ourselves," Pastor Fred Turner said. "We don't believe God gave us this building just to use for ourselves."
So they began renting out their building.

The church allows both christian and non-christian organizations in the community to use it.
Though it does take money to keep their light shining, Turner said most times they let groups use the space free of charge.
"We feel convinced that when God blesses us with something, like he's given us this building, one of our callings is to say, 'how can we use it to help other people,'" Turner said.
You won't find the word "church" on the building or a cross inside.
It's not a mistake.
Turner said the symbols of a traditional church are purposefully excluded so everyone who comes in can feel comfortable.
"I think it would be a great thing if people drove by churches and thought, that building isn't just for those people who show up on Sunday or Wednesday or Saturday," Turner said. "(But think instead) I'm a part of this community, that could be for me too."
Connections Church is actually renting the building too.
A few friends of the church actually own the building.
Church leaders are considering buying it.
