APEX, N.C. -

Forbes.com has just released their rankings that show the Town of Apex to be 3rd best in the list of the 25 Best Places to Move in America. This list identifies communities with populations of 25,000 or more with a high percentage of residents that were born out of state or abroad [Apex: 65%], have moved from a considerable distance in the last five years [Apex: 36%], and moved for a better job opportunity. Other positive factors considered were a community's population growth, family income [Apex: $91,328 median family], adults with bachelor's degrees or higher [Apex: 55%], persons in executive and professional jobs, the proximity of multi-national companies, and the price [Apex: $225,100 median value], size, and age of homes.

Mayor Keith H. Weatherly expressed his appreciation for this recognition as he said, "We are all so pleased that our Town has attracted this kind of positive national attention. For many years the Town has worked with our civic groups, our businesses, and churches to make newcomers feel very welcome. We are so encouraged when newcomers tell us that they find Apex to be one of the best places to get a good job, find a nice home in an attractive neighborhood, raise a family, and enjoy a safe and happy lifestyle."

As news of the national ranking of Apex spread through the media, more calls and inquiries reached Town offices and the local Chamber of Commerce. "We continue to have so many people from everywhere wanting to know more about Apex," said Apex Town Manager Bruce Radford. "We are always glad to share all we can about opportunities in Apex. This is a very welcoming community," added Radford.

Mayor Weatherly reflected on how this ranking was achieved by saying, "We have tried to maintain a delicate balance of managing our growth, holding development to high standards, keeping taxes low, creating attractive and affordable neighborhoods, supporting local schools with high academic achievement, offering diverse recreation programs, and keeping crime out of our Town with a strong public safety program. Our slogan is: APEX -- THE PEAK OF GOOD LIVING. I am so glad that everyone knows it's more than a slogan."
