The Raleigh City Council is discussing taxis during a public hearing today at 3:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber or the Avery C. Upchurch Government complex, 222 West /Hargett Street.
According to city staff, the revisions are meant to improve customer service as well as driver and customer safety and set appearance standards for the taxicabs and drivers. The revisions to the proposed ordinance refine the definition of a taxi and limousine to be operated in the Capital City. The ordinance also defines the means through which a background check is to be completed prior to the issuance an owner/operator license from the City.
