Family and friends gathered Sunday to attend the visitation for Ashley Ramos-Hernandez, 6, who was killed last week after getting off the school bus.
The Green Elementary first-grader was killed Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle at her bus stop at the intersection of North Hills Drive and Hillock Drive.
Visitation was held Sunday at the Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on Millbrook Road in Raleigh.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Raphael Catholic Church. A burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park on Glenwood Avenue.
The driver of the SUV, Geraldine Geitz, has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and passing a stopped school bus.
Co-workers of the girl's parents are pitching in to help the family.
Both parents work at Vivace Restaurant in North Hills in Raleigh, and the restaurant, along with three others owned by the Urban Food Group, plan to hold a benefit Saturday.
Service staff at Vivace and Coquette Brasserie restaurants plan to donate all of their wages and tips to support the family.
"If we have the ability to defray some of the financial burdens that go along with something like this, then it's the very least we can do," said Jay Spungin, managing partner of Vivace.
Two other restaurants will donate a portion of worker wages and tips to the family from Saturday evening's dinner service.
Those restaurants are Porter's City Tavern and Frazier's Bistro, both in Raleigh.
Spungin said Ashley's father, Alfonzo, has worked at Vivace for about three years, while her mother, Elena, has worked there for about one year.
The PTA at Green Year Round Elementary, where Ashley went to school, has also set up a memorial fund.
Anyone wishing to donate can do so in Ashley's name at any BB&T bank branch.
Proceeds will go to support Ashley's family and for funeral costs.
