Please join us for an exciting red carpet event as the town of Apex officially kicks off the First Peak City International Film Festival. The event begins at 6 p.m. in historic downtown Apex at the Halle Cultural Arts Center, 237 North Salem Street.
Search lights and the red carpet will await Jerry Mathers of "Leave It to Beaver" fame and other dignitaries as they are chauffeured in antique cars.
Producers and stars of the family-friendly film, "The Rusty Bucket Kids Club: The Adventure of the Magic Glasses" will follow Mathers, including former WRAL-TV news anchor Charles Gaddy and Mark Roberts. Prior to the premiere of the film, Mathers will receive the Continuing Lifetime Achievement Award from festival officials.
Live music will be provided by CenterSound recording artists G.W. Pierce and The Rusty Bucket Band and Sissy Harrington.
"The Rusty Bucket Kids Club: The Adventure of the Magic Glasses" can be described as "Back to the Future" meets the History Channel. Two young actors (leads Roxanna Demers and John Coleman Demers) travel back in time to help historical characters. In the pilot, we encounter Abraham Lincoln (Scott Taylor). Written and directed by Kevin Robert McDermott, produced by John Demers and filmed and acted by local talent, this production is the harbinger of things to come as the Raleigh area takes its place as a film-making center. Shot entirely in and around Apex and New Hill, this enterprise demonstrates the caliber of personnel available locally to create family-style entertainment.
Saturday evening will follow suit with the filmmakers arriving in antique cars. Mr. Mathers will be attending the Awards Celebration. Producers will be awarded in a number of categories and the show will include music as well. Media is welcome on Saturday night as well to the Peak City Film Festival Filmmakers' Awards Ceremony.
