Carolina Preserve Cares, Inc. (CPC) 2008 Student Art Auction fact sheet Purposes: There are three objectives of the 2008 Student Art Auction: 0 Recognize the accomplishments of the individual artists. 0 Recognize the Wake County Public Schools' arts program. 0 Raise money for the Wake County Public Schools' art program and Interact of Wake County, a United Way agency supporting children by providing shelter and support to battered, abused spouses and their children as well as shelter for homeless families. Events information: There will be two events associated with this project: 0 An Artists' Reception will be held on the 8th of November at Bradford Hall from 2 to 5 PM to recognize the accomplishment of the student artists and recognize the Wake County Public Schools' arts program. This event will be open to all members of the Carolina Preserve community as well as invited guests. This event will be the only public display of the winning artwork and will allow each student artist to discuss his or her work one-on-one. In addition, each artist will be awarded a fifty-dollar savings bond and letter of appreciation for permanent school files. The winner of the grand prize will receive an additional two hundred fifty dollar savings bond. The emcee of the event will be one of the anchors from WNCN, the local NBC affiliate, and CPC's media partner. 0 An invited-guest only reception and auction will be held the evening of the 12th of November at the North Carolina Museum of Arts. Invitations are being sent to local supporters of the arts, based on a mailing list provided by Interact of Wake County and consist of their benefactors. In addition, members of the School Board, Superintendent's Office, corporate sponsors, local elected officials and law enforcement officers, and other dignitaries are being invited as guests of Carolina Preserve Cares. The Wake County Public Schools System and Interact of Wake County are inviting members of the press to this event. The purpose of the auction itself is to achieve the third goal outlined above, to raise money for the Wake County Public Schools' art program and Interact of Wake County. Benefactors: One hundred percent of the final bid price of the student art will be split evenly between the Wake County Public Schools' arts program and Interact of Wake County, a United Way agency.
