WakeMed Health & Hospitals is hosting its second Stand By Your Man in 2008 on Tuesday, December 9 at WakeMed North Healthplex from 5 to 8 pm.
This sequel men's health event is being held in response to overwhelming interest in the screenings and seminars initially offered on November 18. At the November event, WakeMed completed more than 60 PSA/prostate exams, 80 cholesterol screenings and had 225 participants in the seminars. The same level of participation is expected for the event scheduled for December 9.
Screenings for him include PSA screening and prostate exam, colon cancer risk assessment, blood pressure and cholesterol. Seminars for him include colon cancer, back surgery and prostate health. Screenings for her include blood pressure, height/weight/BMI, bone density and breast cancer risk assessment. Both men and women are also offered complimentary flu shots.

Stand By Your Man was created in 2006 in response to men's historical hesitation to visit the doctor. But, Stand By Your Man is a seminar with a twist. Women are invited to encourage their men to participate in the screenings and attend the health information seminars, while the ladies enjoy complimentary spa treatments, screenings and seminars.
