American Historian Edwin Bearss to Speak at Duplin Winery Fundraising Event for the Confederate States Armory Sword Factory

Edwin Bearss is the premier Civil War historian and will share his knowledge and passion for American History at a two-day fundraising event to be held at Duplin Winery in Rose Hill, North Carolina.

Rose Hill, North Carolina – Duplin Winery is pleased to announce their participation in a two-day fundraising effort for the Confederate States Armory Sword Factory. The event, with proceeds benefitting the CSA Sword Factory Foundation, will feature several nationally-renowned guests, including Edwin C. Bearss.

Edwin Bearss is best known for incomparable hold on Civil War history. Currently in his 80’s, he has spent most of his life walking the parks and areas of our country that played a role, large or small, in the battles that further defined our nation. Bearss is known for his passionate, interpretive tours and will bring his unique style and knowledge to Duplin Winery on November 16 and November 17. Bearss will focus his engagement on Civil War raids in Eastern North Carolina.

The fundraiser will also feature works by John W. McAden, Dr. Chris E. Fonvielle, Jr., and Dr. Lynn Veach Sadler. Entertainment will be provided by harpist Jane Veach Cooper. In addition, there will be a full display of Confederate States Armory from the largest collections in the country.

Duplin Winery, the winery that jump-started the burgeoning wine industry in North Carolina and the largest winery in the South, will host this once-in-a-lifetime event. About the CSA Sword Factory Foundation The “Sword Maker for the Confederacy,” Louis Froelich moved his company (formerly known as the CSA Arms Factory) to Kenansville, North Carolina after a yellow epidemic epidemic struck Wilmington in 1862. The factory produced numerous swords, utensils, and sabers for the Confederacy’s fighting forces.
