WAKE COUNTY, N.C. -

The Wake County Health Department has temporarily closed its H1N1 vaccination clinics after running out of the vaccine.

Wake County received 9,900 doses of the H1N1 vaccine and opened five clinics to distribute vaccines to those in priority groups.

On November 9, clinics in Raleigh, Fuquay-Varina, Wake Forest and Zebulon opened at 9 a.m. They Cary clinic opened at 10 a.m. Hundreds waited in line for flu shots at Colonial Baptist Church in Cary. At 11:30 a.m., people were still waiting in a line that wrapped around the church. No word on how the supply is holding out at this particular location.

The County will notify the news media when clinics are restocked and reopened.

"While the five Wake County H1N1 clinics that opened this morning have run out of vaccine, many physicians and pharmacies in our community do have vaccine available." said Wake County Community Health Director Sue Lynn Ledford. "People should call their primary care provider or local pharmacy if they would like to receive the H1N1 vaccine. If they are unable to find vaccine in these places, then they should consider getting the vaccine from the County."

Officials say they will notify the public when clinics have been restocked and reopened.

The groups recommended to receive the H1N1 vaccine include:
Pregnant Women
Household contacts and caregivers for children younger than 6 months
Healthcare and emergency medical services personnel
Children ages 6 months to 24 years
Persons ages 25 to 64 with underlying health issues
