Consonus Technologies is laying off 14 workers due to the current uncertain economy, leaving the Cary data-management company with about 200 employees.
"What we did is some minor tweaking around the edges," CEO Mike Shook said. "We just think it is judicious to make sure we are really looking at our cost structure."
Shook said Consonus will be cutting back in weaker areas, but it is also adding employees in areas that are doing well.
Although the company had a strong 2008, Shook said the Consonus must cut back due to the uncertain economic forecast.
