Apex Rotary Club Hears Program on Hospice

The Apex Rotary Club had the opportunity to get the facts on the Hospice Program of Wake County at their recent meetiung. Sandy Rifkin, representative of Hospice briefed the Rotary member on the organization which was founded in 1979. The Wake County Hospice is the oldest, largest and ,most experienced hospice serving Wake, Durham, Johnston, Franklin, and Harnett Counties.

Since it's founding, they have provided compassionate end of life care and have earned a reputation for outstanding professional expertise in helping families experience quality of life...throughout life. Hospice helps families deal with a life-limiting diagnosis, counceling families throughout their grief journey, and providing community education programs.

Today, their professional staff and trained volunteers provide expert medical care and supportive services to more than 1,500 families each year. To help meet the complex needs of families, these services include: counceling support for families, short-term respite care, spiritual care and counceling, volunteer support, bereavenment care, transitional home health care, palliative care, and end-of-life education.
