The NAACP is holding their state convention in Raleigh this weekend, and while the entire event isn't focused on politics, the election is a hot topic.
A few at the 65th NAACP convention, they had the chance to catch a glimpse of Keynote Speaker Danny Glover.
"I feel like he's been around longer than I have, and he can possible tell us something that can encourage us to do something more with our lives, because he's in such a higher place as he is now as an actor," said Kyrah Allen.
Glover, known for his work in movies, uses his fame to encourage others to be engaged in what's going on in the world.
"It's essential we look back and learn from the past, but we have to begin to develop, imagine another future, not simply the fact that we could have a president of color for the first time, but simply for the fact of where we are in the global community," said Glover.
The NAACP does not endorse any one candidate but they are working hard to encourage everyone to vote.
"It's historic, woman on one side and an African American on the other side, we want to make sure we remember the sacrifices it took," said Rev. William Barber II, President N.C.NAACP Conference.
The NAACP is also celebrating a victory when it comes to voting.
Barber said advocates worked hard to allow voter registration at early voting in North Carolina.
From here these folks will take the strategies and training and use it to continue the fight for civil rights.
