APEX, N.C. -

Additional parking is in the near future for the Town of Apex.

The Town Council voted Tuesday to accept bids for two parking projects costing about $72,000 for construction. One temporary, leased and unpaved lot will be near the old police station where module units are located. The other project will be a permanent lot near Templeton Street. This lot will later be purchased by the town.

The town and business owners have been working together to find a solution to the parking concerns since the construction on the new police department began more than a month ago. The station moved its headquarters in module units taking up a large parking lot downtown.

The two approved projects will provide 100 parking spots, 20 paved and 80 unpaved. But these are just two of numerous plans that the town will initiate to provide more spaces.

At the last council meeting in the beginning of October, council voted to spend up to $219,000 on the entire project.
