CARY, N.C. -

It's been a week and one day after a deadly hit and run in Cary.

Tuesday morning, a contract worker set up at the corner of Green Level to Durham Road and Cary Glen Boulevard, starting a two week study process.

Neighbors have launched an enthusiastic campaign for a traffic light at the intersection in the aftermath of 16-year old Kailee Birdsong's death last Monday.

There are several factors that the North Carolina Department of Transportation will look at before making any decisions about a light; the traffic count will be weighed heavily.

Police say the SUV being driven by Kailee's mother was clipped by a tan van or SUV, which then took off.

The Birdsong's vehicle rolled several times, and Kailee was thrown out in the process.

She was not wearing a seatbelt.
