It's been 10 years since Hurricane Floyd ravaged Eastern North Carolina, and I still have perfect memory of what Hurricane Fran did to Raleigh a few years prior. No other media was able to get information out as quickly as local television, so owning a battery powered DTV set is a must.
Finally, these small battery operated sets are appearing in stores. We found every electronics retailer in the area offering sets in stores and online. Target.com has the largest selection of sets on their website, and a couple of models are available in stores, which means you can find them almost anywhere. The video shows offerings from Best Buy, Sears, Target and Wal-Mart ranging from $99.00 to $148.00.
September seems to be the most active month for Hurricanes to make landfall in North Carolina, so now is the time to get prepared. For a complete list of preps you should be making, click on the MyNC.com Weather tab and go to our Storm Tracking center. For the latest in digital TV, visit my blog at dtv.myncblogs.com or use keyword DTV.

Your Right, When the internet is down at my home, I would like to get my information from my portable TV. Can I use my converter box?
