The Morrisville Fire Department will hold their annual Fire Safety Day on Saturday, October 4th from 10am - 4pm at the Parkplace Plaza Shopping Center at the intersection of Cary Pkwy and Chapel Hill Rd. Fire apparatus will be on display for kids young and old to check out. The Children's Fire Safety House will teach children how to crawl low under smoke to escape from a burning house. There will also be a child safety seat check station set up for anyone who would like to make sure that their child car safety seat is installed properly. Our own Sparky, himself, will be on hand for pictures with the children. There will be drawings for prizes every hour, and free hot dogs, popcorn and soft drinks for anyone that comes by to visit. Rain make-up day for this event will be Saturday, October 11. Bonus - How to Build Your Own Rain BarrelAlso stop by the booth set up by the Morrisville Environmental & Recycling Committee. They will be presenting a how-to demonstration on building your own rain barrels. Collecting rain to water landscapes and gardens can increase the amount of treated water that is available for drinking, cooking and bathing, can reduce your monthly utility bill, and is not subject to watering restrictions.
