FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. -

Operation Coming Home donated its first home to Sgt. Joey Bozik and his wife Jayme.

Sgt. Bozik was injured in Iraq in 2004 when the vehicle he was driving in hit a roadside bomb.

Bozik lost both of his legs and an arm. He now uses prosthetic legs and an arm.

The home is handicapped accessible, helping Joey when he uses a wheelchair.

The couple moved in on Oct. 27, 2008 because the day has been dubbed "Joey's Alive Day."

It's the day he survived his injuries in Iraq.

Hundreds gathered to welcome the family to Fuquay-Varina.

The 16th MP Color Guard with 82nd Airborne Chorus played patriotic songs throughout the two hour program.

There was also a Blackhawk Flyover by the 82nd Airborne Chorus and the NC State Dance team performed.

Monday, the Town of Fuquay-Varina declared Oct. 27, to be "Joey and Jayme Bozik Day" and town leaders also presented the couple with a key to the town.

Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison made Joey an honorary deputy.

The new home, completely donated, will allow him to take back his independence.

The house also has a nursery; the couple is expecting their first child, a daughter they plan to name Violet Sky Bozik, in December.

Joey now spends time as a motivational speaker and is working on getting a degree in business communications.
