AAA Carolinas To Offer Car Safety Checks

Credit: AP Online
RALEIGH, N.C. -

AAA Carolinas will offer free vehicle safety checks, child passenger safety seat checks, and CarFit for senior drivers at an open house on Friday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its office, 2301 Blue Ridge Rd., Raleigh. Member and travel discounts are available, along with help in planning fall vacations or reviewing auto insurance policies.

Vehicle safety checks include an inspection of tires, windshield wipers, lights, belts, hoses and battery. A written evaluation is provided.

Certified AAA staff will be available to inspect child passenger safety seats and assist with proper installation. Motorists should bring the vehicle owner's manual and the child passenger safety seat instruction manual along.

Senior drivers are invited to visit the free CarFit driver safety program, hosted by AARP volunteers, in which participants go through a 12-point checklist designed to help older drivers find their best fit in their vehicle. Please call in advance to set up an appointment for this service by contacting the office at (919) 832-0543. Each appointment takes about 20-25 minutes.

No appointment is necessary to take advantage of the other free services.

The event, open to the public, will include light refreshments. Call (919) 832-0543 for more details.

An affiliate of the American Automobile Association, AAA Carolinas is a not-for-profit organization that serves more than 1.7 million members with travel, automobile and insurance services while being an advocate for the safety and security of all travelers.
