The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close two of three lanes on I-540 East near Triangle Town Boulevard (mile marker 17), as well as the ramp on U.S. 1 North accessing I-540 East beginning Friday, Nov. 21 at 8 p.m. until Saturday, Nov. 22 at 4 p.m.
A signed detour will be in place. Motorists needing to access I-540 East from U.S. 1 North will turn right on Old Wake Forest Road (State Road 2030), left on Triangle Town Boulevard and follow to I-540 East.
The department will also close two of three lanes on I-540 West between U.S. 64 Business and Buffaloe Road (State Road 2215) on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m., weather permitting.
The closures are necessary for the contractor to complete punch list items for the I-540 project.
Motorists are reminded to stay alert, travel at non-peak times and use alternate routes, when possible. Plan ahead before driving by visiting the NCDOT Traveler Information Management System Web site at www.ncdot.gov/traffictravel or call 511, the state's toll-free travel information line for current travel conditions.
