CARY, N.C. -
Members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals had planned to give rush-hour traffic a message Thursday, but didn't get to deliver it as they had hoped.
PETA announced ahead of time that they would unfurl a banner proclaiming "Thanksgiving is Murder On Turkeys," and hang it from the Old Reedy Creek overpass on Interstate 40.
Because of the prior notice, Department of Transportation workers and Cary Police were on hand to prevent the members from hanging the banner.
The PETA crew did, however, hold the banner up for a short period of time.
