National companies in the Triangle are asking for your help to contribute to World AIDS Day.
Starbucks is just one of many companies that is donating five cents from every drink to the Global Fund and Product Red which helps provide medicine to children with AIDS in Africa.
After Monday, Starbucks will continue to donate money when customers purchase their specialty drinks. Starbucks District Manager Joshua Dufek said it is an easy way to give back to those who need it most.
"The reason I think this is a good thing is that we live in a global community, not just the Apex or Cary community. We're global and Africa is really right down the street," Dufek said. "I believe that in a time like this when we have more customers in our stores than any other time during the year, it's an opportunity to raise awareness around this very real thing that affects someone's children."
GAP, Dell, Aldo and Armani are other companies involved with this project.
