Wake Forest Downtown Revitalization Corporation Hires New Executive Director

WAKE FOREST, N.C.

WAKE FOREST, NC—Maggie O'Neill has accepted an offer to become the Executive Director for the Wake Forest Downtown Revitalization Corporation.    O'Neill is a native of Raleigh and currently serves as the Deputy Town Clerk for the Town of Garner.  Prior to working in Garner, O'Neill worked as the Town Clerk/Finance Director in Bethel, NC and the Management Intern in Ayden, NC.  She holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Political Science and Minor in Economics from East Carolina University.

She will begin work on December 8, 2008 and is ready to help to continue the vital work of the Wake Forest Downtown Revitalization Corporation.  "The Corporation has made such strides in the past several years and I hope to continue that progress.   I am fortunate to have the opportunity to work for a great organization that is committed to downtown revitalization."

The hiring of Maggie O'Neill has concluded a three month search, and will allow the Wake Forest Downtown Revitalization Corporation to focus on facilitating business and customer growth in Downtown Wake Forest according the Jeff Adolphsen, Chairman of the Board of Directors.  "Maggie will bring great enthusiasm to the work of the DRC.  The Search Committee was impressed with her grasp of the Main Street approach to downtown revitalization, and her passion for seeing the Renaissance Plan fulfilled."  The Renaissance Plan is the Master Plan that is helping to guide the future development of the downtown area.

While in Ayden, the Town was named a Small Town Main Street Town.  O'Neill worked closely with downtown business owners on the project implementation.  She also has led several citywide events over the past six years, including the Town of Garner Litter Sweep and Economic Development Showcase, and wrote community newsletters for Ayden and Garner.

 The Wake Forest Downtown Revitalization Corporation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit that through many different avenues works in an ongoing effort to foster the health and vitality of Downtown Wake Forest.  More information on the organization is available on the website of the Wake Forest Downtown Revitalization Corporation , www.wakeforestdowntown.com.
