Monday, December 22, Raleigh Rescue Mission will host its second annual Merry Movie Marathon for Mission guests. This event at Raleigh Rescue Mission includes an evening of pizza, holiday movies and plenty of candy and popcorn.  Support from local companies and individuals help make this holiday event possible.

“Merry Movie Marathon is an idea we came up with to help make the holidays a little brighter for our guests.  The holidays can be an emotionally difficult time for our residents and we wanted to bring some laughter and smiles to their faces,” said Leslie Currin, director of public relations.

“Our guests will enjoy a pizza dinner and then watch holiday movies in their residence halls and eat popcorn and candy to their hearts’ content!  This year, we’ve received donations from Providence Baptist Church, North Carolina School Board Association, Raleigh Grande Cinema, Papa John’s, Ford Produce and Wal-mart.  Employers Resource Management Company has also donated to the event and its employees will be here to volunteer,” Currin said .

Employers Resource Management Company has helped small and medium businesses to outsource human resources functions since 1985.  This year, they decided to support Raleigh Rescue Mission in lieu of a company Christmas party.

“Given the economic times, we unanimously decided to give our Christmas party funds to a cause that truly has greater needs than us,” said William Webb, business development manager for Employers Resource Management Company.  “It’s great to give to this great cause but truly rewarding to volunteer,” said Webb.
