ESC Web Site Technical Issues Could Delay Unemployment Benefits

Credit: AP Online
RALEIGH, N.C. -

The state’s Employment Security Commission Web site is having technical issues and these problems could delay unemployment benefits for many.

According to the ESC spokesman Larry Parker, a portal went down Sunday.  Due to the technical problems, people who tried to file their unemployment weekly certification were not able to do so.  The weekly certification proves to the department that those unemployed are still actively looking for work.

Despite the site is back up, the phone lines are extremely busy because the Web site is running slow.

Parker wants to assure filers that if they filed their certification today, then they will get paid tomorrow.

People have until 9 p.m. to file their certification.
