CARY, N.C. -
Facing a tight budget year, the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Advisory Board met Monday night and listened to ideas on how the department can make its money stretch.
Ideas ranged from increasing fees and concentration on energy efficiency, to developing more programs using existing staff instead of hiring new employees.
Most staff members agreed it would be essential for the department to recruit more volunteers this year.
The board considered various incentive programs to get more people to volunteer.
