North Carolina State quarterback Russell Wilson won't need surgery to repair the knee he injured in the Papajohns.com Bowl.
School officials said Tuesday that an MRI this week confirmed doctors' initial diagnosis of a sprained knee and a torn posterior cruciate ligament.
The Atlantic Coast Conference rookie of the year didn't return after he was hurt in the second quarter of the Wolfpack's 29-23 loss to Rutgers.
School officials say Wilson will have several weeks of limited activities followed by functional rehabilitation.
Wilson was 11-for-23 for 186 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 46 yards in the game. He finished the season without throwing an interception in his final 249 passes -- the nation's longest active streak.
