2009 Run For Young Race Honors Memory Of Student

RALEIGH, N.C. -

What: Second Annual Run for Young 5K Race

Why: To raise community awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving. The race honors the memory of Sadiki Young, who was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and a senior at Wakefield High School when he lost his life as a passenger in a drunk driving accident in January 2007.

All proceeds from the race will go toward the Christ Church Youth endowment Fund, set up in Sadiki's memory, and the Wakefield High School Just Think First Program.

When: Sunday, Jan. 11 at 1:50 p.m. - City Councilor Philip Isley will welcome race participants
2 p.m. - Race beings

Where: Christ Episcopal Church, located at 120 E. Edenton St. in Raleigh

About Run for Young:
Run for Young is a 5K race held in memory of Sadiki Young. Sadiki was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and a senior at Wakefield High School when he was killed as a passenger in a drunk driving accident in January 2007. The 18-year-old was passionate about sports, music and spending time with his friends. Church members, classmates and other friends have joined with area businesses to organize Run for Young. All proceeds from the race go toward the Christ Church Youth Endowment Fund and Wakefield High School's Just Think First program.
