A 26-year-old Raleigh man is facing felony child abuse charges for choking an infant on Jan. 7.
Police arrested Demetrius Raheim Crudup of Raleigh and charged him with felony child abuse and assault by strangulation of his 6 month old child.
The infant received bruising and abrasions to the neck due to the strangulation. The strangulation also caused the child to stop breathing for a period of time and lose consciousness. The infant was treated at a nearby hospital for two days.
Crudup is at the Wake County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond. His court date is set of Monday morning, Jan.12, at 9 a.m.
