N.C. food safety inspectors began a statewide check for recalled peanut butter products on Wednesday. Among their first stops: schools and nursing homes.
NBC 17 went along with Inspector David Strong during his visit to Green Hope High School. Strong said it was his fourth stop of the day and so far, he had not uncovered any of the recalled products.
"We have a list of recalled products and we are checking our list against the stock they have on hand," he said. "From what I've seen, at least with school systems, they've done a very good job of notifying managers and checking shelves. Anything of concern, they pulled immediately."
Strong said the state's effort was a double check to provide reassurance.
