Millions enjoyed a free Grand Slam breakfast Tuesday between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. thanks to Denny's.
The restaurant chain advertised the offer during the Super Bowl.
And with the line spilling out of the door at the Denny's on Wake Forest Road in Raleigh, it appeared the offer was a home run.
Normally $5.99, two pancakes, two eggs, two slices of bacon and two sausage links didn't cost customers a cent on Tuesday.
"Denny's wanted the everyday working person, people that are like you and I, that get up every morning and go to work -- for them to realize that we wanted to do something for them," said General Manager Cecilia Totten.
And in this economy, offers like this don't go unnoticed.
"Denny's have good food, so free breakfast is calling me," said Sheila Anderson.
"You couldn't beat it. I mean it was a beautiful, beautiful breakfast. It was fit for a queen or a king," said diner Annah Shoffner.
Denny's estimates it served two million Grand Slam's nationwide during the 8-hour period.
