WAKE FOREST, N.C. Join us on June 28, 2009 as Heritage Wake Forest once again opens their doors for this sprint distance triathlon. Last year was the first year for this race and it was also the first triathlon ever in Wake Forest and the first triathon in the world to benefit The Smile Train. The turn out for this event was amazing with over 325 athletes filling up all the avialable spots weeks before the race! Through the generosity of our sponsors 100% of the entry fee from this race went to benefit The Smile Train—an international group who does cleft lip and cleft-palate repair for children in severly impoverished areas. The Smile Train Tri was able to send over $15,000 (along with an additional $9,300 in personal donations) to help make 97 smiles!I must also say that the community support for this race was amazing. There were many, many first-time triathletes here working towards just completing the event. We had volunteers cheering them on, Heritage families making signs to support them along the course, it was a wonderful event.
