RALEIGH, N.C. -

Ravenscroft senior Ryan Kelly has been named a McDonald's All American, as announced Wednesday night on ESPNU.

Kelly, a 6-10 power forward, is ranked by scout.com as the #11 player overall and the #3 player at his position in the Class of 2009. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Duke University.

Kelly is just the third player from Raleigh to be named a McDonald's All American, joining Anthony Richardson (Leesville, 2001) and Shavlik Randolph (Broughton, 2002). He is the first Triangle-area player to earn the honor since Randolph and Eric Williams (Wake Forest-Rolesville) in 2002. The last player from the state of North Carolina to be named a McDonald's All American was Chris Paul (West Forsyth) in 2003.

As a senior, Kelly is averaging 25.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks per game. He is shooting 62 percent (323-of-517) from the field.

"It's an honor to be chosen to play in the McDonald's All American game," said Kelly. "I'd like to thank my parents, family, friends, and coaches for all they have done. I would also like to thank my teammates for their support. Without them, this would not have been possible."

The 2009 McDonald's All American game will be played on Wednesday, April 1 at 8 p.m. at the Bank United Center in Miami. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN.
