DURHAM COUNTY, N.C.

RALEIGH, N.C.—The Women's Center of Wake County has announced that they will host a grand opening for their newly renovated shop, ABBEYGAIL'S Re-chic Boutique, on Saturday, March 21 at 10 a.m. at 5205 Hillsborough St., with a ribbon cutting by N.C. State Treasurer Janet Cowell. The shop, formerly known as Abbeygail's Closet, will re-open as a women's resale boutique with a focus on quality, brand-name clothing and accessories. The revamped boutique will feature a new section, Women Leaders, that offers items donated by local, state and national women in high-profile leadership positions.

ABBEYGAIL'S accepts donations of brand name items and is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Items may be delivered during operating hours or left on the front porch for donation. The boutique will issue a tax donation letter for items donated during operating hours.

All proceeds from sales at ABBEYGAIL'S are donated to The Women's Center of Wake County, which assists the community through programs and services that provide homeless women and children with support, basic needs and affordable housing. For more information, please call (919) 829-3711 or visit the Web site at www.wcwc.org.

"We are excited to unveil ABBEYGAIL'S Re-Chic Boutique at our grand opening event," said Lana Calloway, Women's Center of Wake County board member. "We have always operated ABBEYGAIL'S with the goal of raising money to supplement our efforts to assist local women and children. We are confident that the new feel of ABBEYGAIL'S will only increase our ability to provide the support that these women need."

The renovation at ABBEYGAIL'S would not be possible without the support of several local businesses," said Jean Williams, executive director of the Women's Center of Wake County. "Colorvision, Inc.; Exhibit Resources; Fairway Outdoor Advertising; Kelly Marcom; Progress Energy and execUchange have all made a huge impact on the success of this project."

About The Women's Center of Wake County:

The Women's Center of Wake County started over 20 years ago as a grass roots movement to meet the needs of women re-entering the community from prison. Over the course of those 25+ years, the Center has responded to the changing needs of women, expanding and providing services as indicated by the women in our community. Over the last 12 years, the Center has shifted focus in response to the most critical needs of women, addressing the growing issue of homelessness for single women with children. The board, staff and direct service volunteers have become strong advocates and service providers for those who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless.
